Parenting North East was set up by 5 women:

Aggie Maxwell is owner of Grow Up Green, a local, independent cloth nappy retailer and nappy library. She is mother to 3 children, aged 9, 6 and 3. It was only when pregnant with baby number 3 that she discovered slings and how easy they could make life. She is a regular face at our Newcastle and South Tyneside meets where she shares her cloth nappy knowledge, as well as helping out with the sling library. She has a background in both business and charity fundraising, so her role in the organisation is to keep the books straight.

Carrie Roberts is the owner of Rock Solid Slings.  She is a qualified Babywearing Consultant, Sling educator, Sling Librarian, and lone parent to 2 stunning people. She has been using slings for more than 10 years and is a driving force in educating the people of Tyne and Wear and Northumberland in sling usage. You will see Carrie at many of the Tyne and Wear meets, offering one-to-ones and running sling school.

Clare Willsher is the owner of Clarabugs Creations. She is mother to 2 little girls. She was introduced to slings with baby no 1 and has been using them ever since. She is a regular face at our Newcastle sling meets. Clare is a qualified textiles and design teacher, her expertise in textiles and design mean she is an asset to the library.

Samantha Townsend is owner of Geeky Sweetheart, a specialist service offering repair and alteration of wraparound baby carriers to customers throughout Europe. She is also an active babywearing advocate, planning and delivering sling library sessions and babywearing training to individuals and groups throughout the North East. Prior to becoming mam to Stevie, Nicky and Melody she had a successful career teaching Religious Studies and Philosophy. Foraying into craft blogging and tutorial writing for websites and books. She is a social media expert who helps the organisation stay visible and relevant to service users through social media channels she is an influential voice in the babywearing community and has a wide portfolio of industry contacts.

Jenny Drummond is a mother of 2 and a former teacher. She is an experienced sling consultant and librarian. Her specialism is children with special needs. She is also a breastfeeding peer supporter. She loves to tie dye and is the ring sling arm of Rock Solid Slings.
